Univalle Zarzal launches its conversational English course

With the intention to improve the communicational abilities of students in the English language, the Director of the Branch of Zarzal, opted for the implementation of a specially focused program, aimed to improve fluency levels in students. With a little bit of luck and hard work, the goal is to expand to the rest of community. This project is based on the previous experience of the Programa de Mejoramiento Continuo, also known as the PMC program, which was piloted in the first semester of 2012 in Cali.

At the moment the Branch offers its students and staff the opportunity to improve listening, and speaking. As well as reading and writing, with the assistance of the LANGUAGE LABORATORY. The Lang-Lab consists of over 20 workstations, each with its respective accessories, amongst other top of the line mechanisms designed to allow a more idealistic learning environment.

This course began as a trial course for the students of industrial engineering, with the hopes of growing and reaching out to other programs in the near future.

This process began initially with a placement test which was presented virtually, via internet on October 5th, using the University’s virtual campus. The following stage of the process was the personal interview. Students felt very confident of their skills, for the most part.
